Skills

Instructional Design

From Job Aids to video and podcasts, I have done it all. My favorite authoring tools include Vyond, Inkling, Storyline, RISE, and Camtasia. I enjoy expanding my skillset and try to include new design features with each project I take on.

Facilitation

I design and facilitate in-person and virtual training that leaves room for discussion and plenty of interaction. My goal is to create thorough, succinct, learner-focused presentations.

Program Management

In my most recent project, I was responsible for all tasks including curriculum planning, communications strategy, branding and design, as well as all aspects of ADDIE. I also onboarded other designers to the project to create additional content.

Change Management

Change is at the core of Learning and Development. Training seeks to either change behaviors and processes or communicate organizational changes. I apply the Prosci ADKAR method of change management (Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, and Reinforcement) in my approach to Instructional Design.

Strategic Partnership

The only way to create effective, impactful training is to partner with leaders, subject matter experts, and learning technologists. I prefer to engage partners as soon as possible and maintain relationships through the completion of a project.

Testimonials

“Michael is not afraid to question the status quo, think outside the box, and try something new. Michael was tasked with revamping our team's reinforcement program, Excellence in Enterprise. Michael completely rebranded and redesigned the entire program, calling it The Excellence Network. Michael built Vyond videos, podcasts, eLearnings, job aids, and a number of branding collateral and other materials to achieve this goal. Using Degreed and our LMS to communicate and track his efforts, we were able to reach a significant portion of our audience and provide them with supplementary, just-in-time learning.

I would recommend Michael to anyone that is looking for someone who is passionate, creative, and an L&D industry expert. It has been incredible working with Michael and I know he will make an impact wherever he goes!”

— Kaitie Rehmann, MBA, Senior Manager, Enterprise Learning Design at Indeed.com

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Michael at two organizations. I’ve watched him grow from a novice instructional designer to an exceptional learning & development program manager! Michael is an extraordinary designer who is imaginative and exacting. While Michael is highly skilled in instructional design, his best quality is his holistic approach to learning. Michael has a natural ability of connecting behavioral science and learning design, resulting in effective learner centered training solutions. He is a gift to any talent development team; I would snag the opportunity to work with Michael any day!”
